What kind of photography do you specialize in?

Currently I am focusing on babies & kids, maternity, family and couples. This includes newborn photos, 1st year milestone & 1st birthday photos, photos of you with your kids, maternity photos, etc.

How long is a session?

About 1-2 hours, depending on the type of session. Newborn sessions run longer (expect about 2-4 hours).

When should I book my session?

For all sessions, the earlier, the better, to guarantee availability. This is especially true for newborn photos. Currently, I only book 2-3 newborns per month, to guarantee that I can be available for you, since babies come on their own schedule and it is best to do newborn photos 4-10 days after birth while they are still fresh, curly and sleepy. When you schedule a newborn session, I will pencil you in with a loose date, and we will choose the specific date after your little one makes their debut.

For maternity sessions, it is best to plan to have the photos taken sometime between week 28 and 35. Remember, if you book your newborn session with me, your maternity session will be 20% off!

Where will the session take place?

The location is completely up to you. I have a few favourite outdoor spots that I am more than happy to recommend, or we can go to a place of your choosing. I ask that the location be within 30 minutes of Boulder.

I usually prefer to have my family/kid/maternity sessions outdoors, but for young babies inside is usually better. For newborn photos I will bring all my gear and props to your house and set up there so you don’t even have to leave the house in those first few days, if you don’t want to; I also have my own indoor space available.

When will the session take place?

The best time for outdoor photography is soon after sunrise or close to sunset, so ideally we will schedule the session to start either an hour after sunrise (if you want to get up that early!), or about 2 hours before sunset. For indoor photos usually 10am-1pm.

Currently, newborn sessions are only offered on weekends, and the session should take place within 4-10 days of the babies birth. For all outdoor sessions, scheduling is more flexible.

What should I bring to my session?

These are all optional, but some good things to bring to a session include:

  • multiple outfits
  • props (I provide my own props for many sessions, but including personal items is always encouraged)
  • a friend or family member (can be very valuable to help you loosen up and feel more comfortable) ***for newborn sessions, only bring people you wish to be included in the shoot or adults to help with older siblings - to keep the environment peaceful***

What should I do to prepare for my session?

Reading this page was a good start! I always like to talk to my clients ahead of time to discuss expectations, and wardrobe; and to go over any questions you may have. We should plan to meet somewhere for coffee, or at least send a few emails back and forth before the session.

For newborn shoots I will also provide a guide, instructing how to best prepare your baby so they will be sleepy, peaceful, and ready for their session. It is often helpful to get a look at your space before I show up, so I will know where the best light is, or whether we should choose to shoot in my studio instead. Doing a maternity shoot ahead of time is a great way to get to know each other and prepare for a newborn shoot.

How soon will I receive my photos?

I always try to get my photos back to you as quickly as possible. I know I hate waiting, and I don’t want you to have to either. As such you will usually have access to all the photos from your session within 24 hours of the shoot.
