My long weekend labour scare

Since this weekend was a long weekend we had lots of plans to get stuff done around the house, but we also wanted to make sure we devoted one day to just having fun. So we got out early in the morning on Saturday to visit The Denver Museum of Nature and Science as well as The Denver Zoo. Being new to Colorado, we bought season passes to both a while ago, and since they are right next to each other it is convenient to visit them both in the same day.

As you can tell from the photo, Mavid enjoyed directing us around the zoo with his map. We walked around all day, and didn’t get home until after 3 pm. My husband put Mavid down for a late nap, while I cleaned up and cooked dinner.

After all that, my 8 month preggy self was pretty tired. I think I must have overdone it a bit, because right as we sat down for dinner I started getting contractions. They were about 3 minutes apart and very regular. About an hour in I was getting a little bit worried (it was still nearly 4 weeks till my due date); I wasn’t ready. I ran about (somewhat frantically) putting together my hospital bag. Even though I was pretty sure it wasn’t labour this early, I wanted to be prepared. Luckily after about an hour and a half of contractions every 3 min, they started to come less frequently,  and by the time I went to bed they were coming every 12 min or more.

I’m thankful it wasn’t labour yet – but I’m glad I had a scare. Now my hospital bag is fully packed, and should anything happen, I feel ready. Still, I’m hoping this baby waits until at least February. My husband and I carefully planned for this baby to be a “Horse” baby (because we’re silly like that); and the Chinese new year isn’t until January 31st. Additionally, we won’t have any family to watch my son (while I’m in labour) until February 8th. If the baby comes before then,  my husband might not be able to be there with me. My due date is February 12th so wish me luck!

I am getting impatient though; I can’t wait to meet this little person – and I really want to finally find out if it’s a boy or a girl!

Comment below with your birth date & gender guess. I’d love to see everyone’s predictions!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!
